Menurut Hidayat, perusahaan teknologi informasi terbesar Taiwan ini berencana menginvestasi dana awal kurang dari US$ 1 miliar atau sekitar 10% dari total investasi yang disiapkan sebesar US$ 10 miliar.
Dana tersebut disiapkan untuk membangun sebuah pabrik di areal seluas 40-50 hektare. Kabarnya, Foxconn bakal memilih salah satu lokasi di Pulau Jawa sebagai lokasi pembangunan pabriknya.
Pembangunan pabrik baru Foxconn ini rencananya akan mulai dilakukan pada kuartal II-2013.
Pada kesempatan tersebut Hidayat juga menyatakan dirinya telah berjanji takkan buka suara terlalu jauh soal rencana investasi Foxconn di tanah air. Pemerintah akan memberikan kesempatan kepada perusahaan asal Taiwan tersebut untuk berbicara langsung di hadapan media.
Seperti diketahui, rencana investasi Foxconn merupakan salah satu yang ditunggu oleh masyarakat dan pemerintah Indonesia. Masuknya Foxconn yang menggandeng nama besar Apple diharapkan bisa memicu masukny investasi lain dari perusahaan-perusahaan besar di dunia.
